Confusing but really well acted. Cameron Crowe has a great vision and Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz have amazing chemistry on screen. This is a movie that you have to see at least twice to understand.

I enjoyed "Vanilla Sky" excluding the final ten minutes. Deua ex machina bits just don't cut it these days. Profound? Deep? C'mon...this is basic "first time I get high" type of material. "Row, row, row your boat, life is bit a dream." Duh. Where is the substance, the intelligent complication. It's a shame, too, because this movie wasworking so very well.
Visually, I was satisfied. Nice looking, competent direction from Cameron Crowe. Cruise and Cruz were both fine.
One of the best pictures of the year? What have YOU been smoking?

I was liking it better earlier on. This movie at times made me feel like I just needed to leave; in other words some scenes were not enjoyable, actually just annoying. I can't say I can give a very good rating, but I do think some parts have a real, true-life message, like how a person can seem to be 'the bomb' with their good looks, which are only skin-deep. True that. I better recommend seeing MEATBOOK.NET for an awesome book that will do more than entertain you. It will help you!!!

I enjoyed being taken for a thrilling ride. This movie has so much deep stuff to talk about, but I just thought it was fun.

Actors-Tom Cruise, Penolpe Cruiz, Camron Diaz and Kurt Russel

Plot-A man(Cruise) has a woman(Diaz) that he sleeps with, nothing more, nothing less. She really dosnt mean anything to him. But she thinks their relationship is a bit more serious. So one day at a party he meets a woman(Cruiz) that he falls in love with. He spends the night with her and the next morning he gets in Diaz's car. She flips out and drives the car into a wall. She dies and he lives(but is horribly disfigured). The woman he loved begins to reject him and soon things get weird and he embarks on a personal quest of sex, love, betrayal, muder and dreams.

Review-My second favorite movie of all time(the first being LA Confidential)! I was sucked into this movie. i could somehow relate and feel for Tom's charecter. I loved the music and directing. I loved the actors as well. This movie reall touched me and grabbed my full attention. A lot of the movie plays like a dream(and nightmare). It had great art direction and a great script. I absolutly love this movie and highly recommend it(though its not for all tastes). I saw this movie 3 times in the theaters and own it on DVD. An excellent, mind-blowing movie!

Rating-R for sexuality and strong language

Cameron Crowe's "Vanilla Sky" is a confusing ride, but one worth taking if you're willing to devote the time to it. Dazzling in detail and scope, "Vanilla Sky" is either utterly fascinating or disappointingly convoluted, depending on who you are - fortunately, I choose to opt for the former. Deep-seated meanings and themes sprout everywhere like weeds, and they're ripe for the picking if you choose to delve into the deeper psychological aspects of it all. Confusing? Sure, but that's part of the fun. "Vanilla Sky" is some sort of flawed masterpiece - one of those movies that you can tell is brilliant, but that's a little too mind-bending to actually feel comfortable dubbing as such. Nevertheless, it's a fascinating, intoxicating trip.

This wasnt as good as I hoped it would be. I thought it was quite confusing actually.

Very good directional effort from Cameron Crowe, and I quess this is a rarity as it seems to be a succesful remake (I need to see the original!). I liked the expensive aesthetics and the great soundtrack.

According to Crowe, there are 428 references to pop culture in the film. Spotting them is of course great fun and an essential part of the viewing experience.

I have to admit that this movie may need a second viewing to get a fair rating from me. I found it hard to understand but very intriguing. What was real? What was a dream?

Obviously I missed the point. Duh. But I will try again.

The acting was great, the chemistry dynamic. Just couldn't quite follow the plot/meaning.

I'm sure it will be around on TV reruns for me to catch up.

Good God, what a year this has been. Everyone who has declared 2001 the nadir of cinema is failing to at least appreciate the experimentation that has been happening. Filmmakers have taken some incredible risks recently, and though I won't get into why "Vanilla Sky" is possibly my favorite movie of the year (perhaps tied with "Moulin Rouge", and I like the trivia that the 2 top films - according to me, anwyay - star Hollywood's former ultima-couple, Cruise and Kidman; way to go, you two), I will give a sentence or two of devotion and envy to Cameron Crowe for crafting the exact same movie I've dreamt of making my entire life (not counting the first several years before I was an avid movie loser), one decorated scene by scene, shot by shot, with meaningful detail (the freeze frame of Cruise & Cruz that becomes a '70s album cover is what keeps coming to mind, not to mention the vanilla sky at the point of Cruise's turnaround, etc.) and that culminates with a supremely beautiful, thoughtful, dare I pretentiously say PROFOUND conclusion expressing cliched yet eternally ripe-for-contemplation themes of love, life, and one's personal, ultimate value thereof. If no other movie was ever released after "Vanilla Sky", I would deem that the perfect ending to a momentous era of unfathomably effective artistic entertainment. Forever and ever, amen
